Flag is a four letter word.
Since the early 1950's, thousands of American flags have been placed by the graves of soldiers for Memorial Day. A small token of appreciation for those who gave their lives in the service of their country. Originally honoring the Civil War dead, today marks the 144th observation of Memorial Day.
Take a moment today and, to use the words of General Logan in his order establishing the holiday, "cherish[] tenderly the memory of our heroic dead, who made their breasts a barricade between our country and its foes".
